The EA decaffeination process combines naturally derived ethyl acetate with water to remove caffeine from the coffee beans. After many hours of the solution passing through the coffee to where over 97% of the caffeine has been removed, the coffee is washed to strip any last traces of ethyl acetate and then vacuum dried to bring the moisture content back to an appropriate level
